The RGA Voted Gov. Mark Sanford Chairman...

This is exciting news. The 2010 election is going to be extremely important for conservatives, for so many reasons. Now we will have a solid conservative leading the RGA.

Republican Governors Announce Leadership

The Republican Governors Association announced its new leadership team today as the group prepares to grow the Republican Party through its Governors.

Governor Mark Sanford was voted Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. Governor Haley Barbour became the new Vice-Chairman. Governor Rick Perry is the Finance Chairman. Governor Charlie Crist will chair the Annual Gala and Governor Sonny Perdue will serve as Recruitment Chairman. Governor Linda Lingle, Governor Jim Douglas, and Governor Tim Pawlenty will also serve on the Executive Committee.

“I am honored and excited to become chairman of the Republican Governors Association as we work together to win a majority of Governors by 2010,” said RGA Chairman Governor Mark Sanford. “Republican Governors are natural leaders who will find solutions to our nation’s challenges and bring back the Party.”

The Republican Governors Association will head into 2009 having raised a record amount of money and with a record amount of cash on hand. It was the only Republican campaign committee to have all its incumbents reelected.

“The Republican Governors Association was a bright spot for the Republican Party this year and it was a privilege to serves as chairman,” said Governor Rick Perry. “Our Governors are positioned to lead the party and I am confident that Governor Sanford will build on our success.”

We will see how this shakes out. Gov. Sanford is not well liked by the Republicans in SC because he forces them to live up to the conservative creed.

Sanford is not the most subtle of politicians when it comes to getting his point across.

The people of SC like the guy...the politicos not so much.
